Anonymous Threatens New York Times, OpNYT Initiated

Jumat, 31 Agustus 2012

Anonymous once again turns its attention to the media. This time it’s the New York Times, its reporters being accused of trying to downplay the impact of the TrapWire mass surveillance project, whose existence was recently unearthed by WikiLeaks.

After WikiLeaks published the Stratfor files and the world learned of TrapWire, the Internet started buzzing. Protests have been planned, sites have been hacked, and many have started looking for the company that’s behind it.

Hacktivists and activists have concentrated their efforts on learning more about the project and the fact that someone called it “wildly exaggerated” isn’t seen too well.

“The New York Times put on the story some yahoo who declared fears to be ‘wildly exaggerated’ in part because two unnamed, titleless sources at the Department of Homeland Security told them they tried it and didn't like it,” they wrote in a statement.

“No indication is given as to whether or not this was proven to the reporter, or if he saw any evidence of it at all. At any rate, this reporter did not see fit to mention what was elsewhere being shouted by Anonymous, Telecomix, Wikileaks, ProjectPM, and independent researchers: that Cubic is in control of this capability, and that this was where the main problem lay.”

While they’re upset that the paper published the piece, they don’t seem to have planned anything related to cybercrime. Instead, they urge supporters to raise awareness by “spreading these and other failures of the New York Times by attaching the info to those deeds to come.”

Finally, Anonymous representatives claim that the Times has changed its administrator password recently, which they consider to be amusing, but “not in accordance with generally-accepted Anonymous tradition of non-aggression via hacking or DOS towards publications not run (officially) by the state.”

Siemens and Fujitsu General Hacked, Data leaked for #OpColtan

Earlier we posted that another Philips website had been hacked not long after a large load of data was leaked from various other Philips sites. Well now another two electronics Giants have been hacked by Anonymous hacktivist in the name of OpColtan.

The two companys are Siemens Switzerland (siemens.ch) and Fujitsu General Brazil(.fujitsugeneral.com.br) and both have resulted in data from server databases being leaked via paste sites.

The attacks have been carried out by @OpGreenRights and the Siemens attack has been posted to private paste in two different parts while the Fujitsu leak was posted to pastebin in  a single paste.

The leaked data from the Siemens attack contains basic database information as well as other non critical information related to the site.

Message:

Our attention turns to you, unscrupulously and greedy multinationals. Behind your famous commercial images, fabricated and marked on an false Ethic, the most cruel barbarites are hidden.

Coltan, the mineral that you use to produce capacitors of mobile phones, besides being harmful to health, is also the sick result of environmental rape and enslavement of underdeveloped populations.

His gruesome traffic conceal the abuse of human rights and the dirty, imperialist war, which is the daughter of greed and contempt of life in all its meanings. We can not remain indifferent to greedy profiteers whose revenues are derived from the suffering of a colonized, oppressed and exploited people, forced to work in inhuman conditions and paid with meager wages.

We also can not remain indifferent to the accomplices of environmental devastation. Your work is unworthy: if you break the Life, we violate your sites. Appeal to the Citizens of the World: while self-styled advertising campaigns boast the next technological item, thousands of children are deprived of their childhood, their bloody hands don’t know what a toy is, and they excavate constantly, searching for a mineral which is harmful to health.

Thousands of fathers and mothers also work up to 72 hours without any protection, being enslaved and humiliated. Coltan is deleterious for human rights, for environment, and also for health.

Do not be complicit in this mess, make your voice heard, read up, stand up, fight to restore dignity to those who are without because of the dirty work of “democratic” giants of marketing.

“We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” (Elie Wiesel)

Philips Advanced hacked for #OpColtan

Anonymous hacktivist have attacked another Philips based website and leaked more data today. The attack comes less then 24hrs after the first main release of data which was well over 200,000 client and subscriber emails and personal details.

The most recent attack has been carried out by @OpGreenRights and has been dubbed as part of #OpColtan which has been running for many weeks now. The electronics Giants websites appear to be very insecure considering the amount of data and accounts that have been leaked from its servers.

The most recent leak was posted to pastebin and has targeted the sub domain for the professional industry advance.philips.com. The leaked data contains very much the same information as the last leak with lots of company and personal information being leaked.

It appears all passwords are encrypted.

British police logins grabbed by 'Free Assange' hacker

A hacker has posted online what appears to be login information for police officers in the Hertfordshire and Nottinghamshire constabularies.

The usernames, passwords and PINs were posted to Pastebin on Thursday, along with the banner 'OpFreeAssange' and a quote from Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The hacker, '0x00x00', stressed that he or she was not a member of Anonymous.

In a statement, Hertfordshire Constabulary said it was investigating the breach, and confirmed that the information had been "stored on a database linked to the public Safer Neighbourhoods pages of the external Constabulary website".

The force said the database was externally hosted. The Pastebin document refers to Amazon Web Services, but a Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson was not able to confirm AWS was the hosting provider.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said it had disabled part of its website as a precaution, but there was "absolutely no suggestion that any personal data relating to officers or members of the public has been, or could have been compromised".

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Constabulary said in a statement that, following initial inquiries, the force was "confident at this stage that no restricted or confidential information was accessed or databases compromised".

"We continue to investigate and have taken steps to further strengthen security around our website as a precaution," the statement continued.

The hacker said in the Pastebin document: "This is nothing big not some l33t h4x shit ... but this tells how insecure the Web is."

Julian Assange is currently holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, having claimed asylum there after losing his fight against extradition to Sweden, to face questioning over sex crime allegations.

Assange maintains that, if sent to Sweden, he will then be deported again to the US to face charges over US military and diplomatic secrets that were published through Wikileaks.

His situation has sparked several online attacks, against targets such as the Ministry of Justice, that have apparently been perpetrated by members of the hacking collective Anonymous.

Ukrainian Civil Society and Government Website Hacked, OpUkraine

Kamis, 30 Agustus 2012

The Anonymous hackers behind Operation Ukraine seem to be determined to put a stop to what they call the “dog Holocaust.” They recently hacked another high-profile Ukrainian site and published its entire database.

The data leak consists of tens of email addresses, birth dates, IP addresses, usernames and password hashes allegedly stolen from the Civil Society and Government web portal (civic.kmu.gov.ua).

This isn’t the only target of the second phase of OpUkraine. The organizations attacked previously are the Ukrainian Soccer Portal, the Football Federation, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the website of the City of Kiev.

However, until now, the hacktivists have relied on distributed denial-of-service attacks to make their point. Now, it seems that they’ve turned to other methods.

Anonymous continues to accuse the Ukrainian government of violating the agreements made with animal rights organizations. This is probably why we will continue seeing such attacks, at least for a while.

Police.uk Hacked, Data and Accounts Leaked for #OpFreeAssange

A hacker using the handle @0x00x00 has just leaked a load of data from police.uk which is the main police website for England and Wales http://www.police.uk/.

The hack was announced via twitter and posted to pastebin and contains server and database information that belongs to police.uk and 3 of its subdomains.

The first lot of accounts belong to officers/users of the site and total 97 all with a common setup email and clear text password as well as other personal information.

The second lot of data is from user logs and appears to be a list of logs from officiers looking into certian warrent files.

The third contains officer contain details and the four is contact details for other places with England and Wales.

Its amazing that this type of data was accessible considering that United kingdom police have been some of the main players in he fight agasint hackers and cyber security.

All the data has been archived on ozdc.net hack archives.

Anonymous Defaces Multiple Israeli Websites in OpIsrael

Rabu, 29 Agustus 2012

Anonymous hackers have defaced a number of Israeli websites as a form of protest against the actions of the country’s government.

One of the targets of Operation Israel was ziner.co.il, a website breached by LulzPirate protest against Israel’s involvement in Palestine.

Besides this website, Anonymous activists also defaced Letters For Israel (lettersforisrael.com), a service designed to give pro-Israel advocates the chance to make their voices heard. On the defaced page, the hackers posted a message for Josh Haste, the site’s founder.

“Dear Josh Hasten, You have been guilty in supporting the Zionist State, by writing pro-zionism articles in New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Time Magazine, and many others. The Zionist State is not innocent, it is killing innocent people, it’s time for you to know the truth. We have taken your website down,” they wrote.

The same hackers breached and defaced MyIsrael.us, posting a similar message and a video in which Israel is accused of controlling the media.

“Dear Citizens of the world, Israel controls America, Canada and more media news. The truth is always hidden, and yet people support the Zionism. Watch this video and observe the truth about the media being controlled by a lethal Zionist State,” Anonymous wrote next to the video.

Finally, they altered the main page of falcon.co.il, a website owned by a company that offers surveillance cameras. The hacktivists took the opportunity to commemorate pro-Palestinian activist Rachel Corrie.

“This is for the loving memory of Rachel Corrie. An Israeli court has ruled in a civil case that the Israel army was not at fault in the bulldozer death of American pro-Palestinian activist Rachel Corrie. Israel must be punished for all the killing on innocent people!! #OpIsrael is here to stay until the Zionist State stops the occupation and the killings,” they explained.

At the time of writing, all the sites still display the messages posted by the hackers.

Pro-Assange group claims university hacking

The University of Cambridge, UK, has launched an investigation after a pro-Assange group claimed to have hacked into its computer systems.

One of the UK's most prestigious universities, the University of Cambridge has apparently fallen prey to hacker group NullCrew, which says it supports Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The hacktivists have been linked with the Anonymous movement.

The group claims to have targeted the university over the weekend, publishing usernames and passwords of some of the institution's email accounts on Pastebin.

A message from the group which accompanied the release said:

"There is much more where this came from, and don’t think this is the end. NullCrew, along with the whole Anonymous movement isn't near finished with you. And we never will be, until the right thing is done with Julian Assange. Next time it will be worse, we guarantee it."
Through the use of an SQL injection -- which accessed the back-end of the email database system -- the group posted information including seventeen CRSIDs of academics within the Center for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as administrator login details.

"A group calling itself 'NullCrew' claims to have obtained login details for some web based resources hosted on University systems. As a preventative measure these have been taken offline while IT staff investigate the claims. The hacking group itself has not claimed to have compromised the email login details of members of the University, and there is no evidence to substantiate such a suggestion."
This isn't the first university NullCrew has targeted, releasing 1200 email account details from Yale University last month.

Assange is currently facing extradition to Sweden. In order to avoid -- or simply delay -- deportation, he is currently taking shelter at the Ecuadorean embassy in Knightsbridge, London.

Project Hellfire : Team GhostShell claims 1 million accounts leaked

The Hacker group , Team GhostShell which is affiliated with hacktivists Anonymous, leaked a cache of more than one million user account records from 100 websites over the weekend.

Hackers posted an online announcement claiming possession of sensitive data belonging to a list of organizations including the CIA, MIT, and Wall Street businesses, as reported by TechEYE.net.

Some of the pinched data includes credit histories from banks among other files, many of which were lifted from content management systems. Some of the breached databases each contained more than 30,000 records.

The hackers said the online leaks, which are part of its operation called Project Hellfire, were made in protest against banks and in revenge for the rounding up of hacktivists by cops and government agents.

"With the help of it's sub-divisions, MidasBank & the newest branch, OphiusLab. One million accounts/records leaked." Hackers said in the press release.

"We are also letting everyone know that more releases, collaborations with Anonymous and other, plus two more projects are still scheduled for this fall and winter. It's only the beginning. "

#OpFreeAssange has been picking up over the past few days with more attacks happening every day. some of the most recent attacks come from @WikiboatBR with a bunch of defacement’s and a hacker using the handle @0x3a0x3a who has dumped a load of breached FTP systems.

All the attacks have happened some time over the past 48hrs and it would appear that dlink, United kingdom government and other company’s have been targeted in these attacks.

Anonymous target Interpol with OpFreeAssange

Interpol is the world’s largest international police organisation. Anonymous therefore found its website a fitting target for a DDoS attack. The DDoS attack was part of the Operating Free Assange started by Anonymous.

Its believed the attack was launched from the United Kingdom where Julian Assange is currently situated, inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
The website has been disrupted for a short amount of time some 12 hours ago, but currently it’s working properly.

Some other “hacktivists” are also laying claim to taking down the United Kingdom’s serious organised crime agency (SOCA) website. No confirmation of that attack has been found, but if it was attacked it seems along with the Interpol site, not permanent damage was done.

So far, the victims of OpFreeAssange are the websites of MP Peter Hain, UK Ministry of Justice, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Department of Work and Pensions, and the Home Office.

Anonymous and its supporters seem determined to keep this up until Julian Assange is released and allowed safe passage to Ecuador where he was recently granted political asylum. Good luck to anonymous with OpFreeAssange and we hope that Julian Assange gets safely to Ecuador, otherwise it would be a bitter blow to free speech.

AVX Corporation Hacked by Anonymous #OpColtan

Anonymous Operation #OpColtan have announced another attack in the name of this operation and this time its on a Manufacturer and Supplierof Electronic Components AVX Corporation (www.avx.com). AVX It's a big firm wich produce ceramic and tantalum capacitors, connectors, thick and thin film capacitors, resistors and integrated passive components.

UN accused AVX, and many other firms to be interested in illegal coltan extraction and war in DRC. According to Hackers "Usually Coltan was stealed by war groups from Congo mines and carried out to the firms.Million of people lost their lives in Congo war, nature was destroied in order to dig coltan and a lots of gorillas were killed.Unfortunatelly UN decided to abandon the case and never punish the responsibles of the war an nature devastation."

"AVX and other involved firms published an ethical code in 2010; they claim that they don't get tantalium from war areas.NOW a new civil war is growing up in Congo and is totally hypocrite to share DRC in different areas in order to say that some of these are war free.AVX, UN trial refused to punish you, but operationgreenrights doesn't forget."

Hackers found SQL injection bug on the site and exploit it to extract database, finally they expose it on internet. The leak contains full database information of 2900 of the sites clients details with usernames, emails and other personal information as well as passwords which are encrypted.

"We ask for a new trial by the UN in order to invesitgate AVX's activities and other major companies in the DRC and in other war areas. Naturally, the bad working conditions of miners and the respect for the ecosystem should be investigated. At the moment, Anonymous #Operationgreenrights continues in its effort to sort out the truth about the illegal ore trade.

We are Anonymous.
We are legion.
We don't forget.
We don't forgive.
Except us!"

Anonymous Defaces Yuvadesh.com; Back Online

Hacker group Anonymous Operation India (AnonOps India), defaced the online magazine of the Indian Youth Congress – Yuvadesh.com, reports DNA. The group voiced its support for India Against Corruption and protests against alleged internet censorship by the Indian government, on Twitter, following the attack.
However, the website was restored within a few hours. The group also released a statement stating that any activity against corruption will gain their support as long as it does not have any political colour to it.
This comes after police denied members of IAC (Team Anna) the permission for a Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. For the same Anonymous OpIndia seems to have started the #OccupyIndia campaign where it has asked Indians to join the non-cooperation, Civil disobedience, Non-Violent movement in protest against the government. The hacker group has suggested ways to protest, locations to carry out the protest, and safety measures on its #OccupyIndia plan of action page.

We believe that the hacker group had rather stayed quiet as it seemed to have taken a different approach of late, which is more focused on making information public, instead of taking down sites (Read: Takedowns can be counterproductive). With the Yuvadesh.com’s defacement, Anonymous OpIndia seems to have gotten back to its penchant for taking down websites.

Earlier, Anonymous Operation India defaced the official websites of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited, All Indian Trinamool Congress (AITMC) and several websites related to the Mizoram government including the Mizoram Police website, Social Welfare website, Agriculture (Research & Education) Ministry, Mizoram Food And Allied Industries Corporation and many more. It had also taken down the Indian Supreme Court’s website and the official website of the All India Congress Committee, in its response to Internet censorship in India through DDoS attacks. It had also hacked into Reliance servers and were redirecting users who were trying to access websites including Twitter, to a page on which they had given a 24 hour deadline to the Indian Government to re-enable the group’s suspended Twitter account.

On June 9, 2012 Anonymous OpIndia also conducted a nationwide on-ground protest  across 18 cities in India including Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, among others, asking citizens to protest these blocks by wearing a mask and offering materials like banners and flyers for the protest

Hackers Deface website of former British cabinet minister

Hackers claiming allegiance to the Anonymous movement of cyber-rebels have defaced the website of a former British cabinet minister in solidarity with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. "If the reason ... is revenge for Assange's treatment, it's weird to attack me," Hain said in comments carried by the BBC. "They have not done their research because I have supported Assange and opposed his extradition."

Hain’s website was defaced Saturday by a group calling itself Anonymous UK, whose logo consisted of a dark, headless suit against a Union Jack. The group made a variety of allegations against the 62-year-old Labour Party politician, before adding: “The UK’s persecution of Julian Assange will NOT be forgotten.”

Assange's fight to avoid extradition took a dramatic turn in June, when Assange fled to the Ecuadorean Embassy seeking refuge. The ensuing standoff sparked a diplomatic crisis between Britain and Ecuador and could potentially drag on for months or even years.

British MP Peter Hain’s website defaced by #Anonymous for #OpFreeAssange

Minggu, 26 Agustus 2012

Over the past week anonymous hacktivist have been alot more vocal and active over the whole case about Julian assange. One of the most recent attacks have left a British MP’s website hacked and defaced after anonymous hacker obtained full access to it.

The MP is Peter Hain and his website is peterhain.org and hack has left a completely new article and side article ont he front page which is aimed at the British government  and contains the following messages.

#OpVendetta and #Nov5 is a chance for mischief. A chance to show the locked-down corporate governments of the world that, we the people, are the ones with the real power. Let us turn their technologies against them. Let us make them remember the fifth of November again.

Following the small release of all Rainham and Medway Conservative websites admin details yesterday, today it’s the turn of the Labour Party.

Mr Hain doesn’t like it when he’s told he can’t say what he wants, and neither do we. Unfortunately we have serious doubts about his integrity. Not only was he involved in what amounts to political money laundering, but he was also responsible for allowing Unum and Atos Origins to begin the Great Demolition of the benefits protection for the sick and disabled people of the UK. Despite his blustering against Atos in recent months, there is no doubt that he is a traitor to the people of the United Kingdoms of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We do not forget Mr Hain.

I believe the Liberal Democrats should expect us tomorrow.

And by the way…The UK’s persecution of Julian Assange will NOT be forgotten. Anonymous will continue to target UK government and police targets.

#OpFreeAssange #OpVendetta #Nov5

The side bar message reads the following and has a link to youtube video for V for Vendetta

REENACTMENT OF V FOR VENDETTA – FINAL REVOLUTION SCENE !!!! For more info, see the YouTube Here

WHY: Because year on year the government squeezes more and more out of us and the people seem to forget, The 5th of November is a reminder to the government that if they push to far, REVOLUTION is inevitable. We are doing this as a display of our growing numbers, for a remembrance service for V, and to create the biggest 5th of November party in LONDON!

Plane loads of people will fly into London from around the world, ANONYMOUS UK will organise coaches from all UK cities and Airports…

More than 400 years ago a great citizen wished to invent the 5th of November forever in our memory, his hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you’ve seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you, then I would suggest that you allow the 5th of November to pass unmarked, but if you see what we see , If you feel as we feel and if you would seek as we seek then ANONYMOUS ask you to stand beside them, 1 year from tonight outside the gates of parliament and together we shall give them a 5th of November that shall never ever be forgot …

We will be expecting you.

At time of publishing the website was still defaced and can be seen Here.

Global TrapWire, INDECT protest planned Saturday, October 20

Jumat, 24 Agustus 2012

The TrapWire surveillance system and Europe's INDECT are the subject of a global protest planned for Saturday, October 20.

Information about the protest is being shared by Operation INDECT (OpINDECT International) and there is an #OpINDECT/#TrapWire Facebook Event Page.

It is not the first INDECT protest - but recent news about TrapWire from the Wikileaks leak of private intelligence firm Stratfor's documents has added a tanker of gas to the fire.

News and locations of the protest are being shared on various forums and social media sites primarily with a Google Map showing locations of protesters joining the efforts to raise awareness and intent to stop use of the surveillance technologies.

There is also an announcement about the protest citing Anonymous EU in a Pastebin info entry.

TrapWire is in implementation in the United States while INDECT is officially still a European research project.

While details are unconfirmed, the intent of both TrapWire and INDECT is to combine various intelligent surveillance technologies with tracking and location data, individual profile histories from various sources (datamining and social media), and image data analysis (such as facial recognition; TrapWire's video component) to monitor people under the guise of threat detection.
Some Twitter users have commented that they believe Twitter to be currently censoring "OpIndect_" tweets, though this is unverified as of this posting.

Map locations increase as more join the protest. Most locations are in central Europe at present. This is because Europe is where INDECT is currently planned for use in monitoring and gathering data on EU citizens. The protest planned for October 20 has now expanded beyond INDECT with TrapWire opposition.
Upon the release of Wikileaks' Stratfor documents (emails), news about TrapWire and sibling surveillance technologies have been met with increasing public surprise, fear and outrage.

A significant number of TrapWire and INDECT's opponents believe the surveillance systems to be direct threats to privacy, certain civil freedoms and that their implementation could constitute human rights violations.

TrapWire is used by private entities, the US Government "and its allies overseas."

Last week it was revealed that TrapWire is now linked to Anonymizer, a tool used by activists and at-risk populations - formerly trusted for its security and anonymity protections.

The EFF and ACLU have been cautious to jump into the fray; some early TrapWire reports overhyped its capabilities with an embarrassing lack of substantiation.

Still, the ACLU tells us that TrapWire "does deserve a high level of attention and concern" and "we do know the program combines several elements that are each deeply problematic."

Anonymous News made the below video last month, with its explanation of INDECT:

#OpUkraine:City of Kiev,Football Federation Ministry of Agriculture sites ddosed

Kamis, 23 Agustus 2012

A Hacktivists launch DDoS attack against a number of Ukraine high profile sites under the operation called "#OpUkraine".

The list of targets includes the websites of the City of Kiev (kievcity.com.ua) – Ukraine’s capital –, the Ukrainian Soccer Portal (ukrainiansoccer.net), the Football Federation of Ukraine (ffu.org.ua), the Ministry of Agriculture (minagro.gov.ua), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (mvs.gov.ua).

“We do not forget. Your massacre on animals will never be forgiven,” read a tweet posted a few hours ago by the hacktivists behind Operation Ukraine.

Currently, all the websites appear to be working normally, except for the one owned by the Ministry of Agriculture which has been shut down.

The attacks are part of the second phase of OpUkraine. In a statement posted on August 14, the hacktivists warned that they would continue their online protests against Ukraine’s decision to kill stray dogs.

“Dear Government of the Ukraine, for the second time now you show the world your real cruel face. You violate the European Animal Welfare Act,” they said at the time.

“You have betrayed animal protection organizations. You have lied to the media. Your political system is nothing but corrupt. You violate animal rights. You violate human rights. Therefore you will be attacked by us.”

Anonymous Hackers target website of Russian court that sentenced Pussy Riot

Selasa, 21 Agustus 2012

The website of  the Moscow district court that sentenced three members of the band Pussy Riot to jail has been attacked by hackers posting anti-Putin messages.

As well as the anti-Putin slogan Anonymous Russia posted an appeal for the band’s release as well as a video clip of one of the band’s songs. The slogan read: “Putin’s thieving gang is plundering our country, wake up comrades!”

In a message posted on the website, the hackers said the in Russian that : We are American group Anonymous. We don’t forget and we don’t forgive. Justice system has to be transparent. Pussy [Riot's members] are alive.

Another caption called for the release of the band’s jailed members - Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Marina Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30. Jude Marina Syrova said that the women had grossly violated public order and “deeply insulted the faith of the believers with their disrespectful criminal act” when they took over a church pulpit in Moscow’s Christ the Savior cathedral to stage an anti-Putin protest.

During the demonstration, which lasted under a minute, the group performed a song and appealed to the Virgin Mary to “drive Putin away”.The women’s sentencing has been roundly criticised by the international community.

Hackers said they had also brought down websites belonging to the justice department and Department for Work and Pensions in the attack.

‘Anonymous’ targets No 10 Downing Street in support of Julian Assange

The Computer hacking collective Anonymous says it has attacked government websites both at No10 Downing Street and The Home Office in retaliation for the UK's handling of the Julian Assange case.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Justice website said it "had been experiencing some disruption". Although it is believed that most of the affected websites are back to normal now.

The Wikileaks founder and computer hacker seen here speaking to his hundreds of supporters, is staying at Ecuador's embassy in London to avoid extradition to Sweden over sex assault claims, which he denies.

He was granted asylum by the country last week ,which has angered the UK who have threatened to enter the embassy. Which prompted Ecuador’s President, Rafael Correa, to say yesterday that any UK entry to the embassy would be suicide for the UK.

"It would be a suicide for the United Kingdom to enter the Ecuadorian Embassy. It will be a precedent that would allow later on for the diplomatic premises of this country, in other territories to be violated in every corner of the planet.

The U.K. would not have any saying on this then. It would be quite terrible; David Cameron he's quite a disastrous president.” Assange, who has been in Ecuador's London embassy since June, incensed the United States and its allies by using his WikiLeaks website to leak hundreds of thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic and military cables in 2010.

And Assange believes that once he leaves the embassy he will then be transported on to the US as part of a deal to answer questions on the leaking of recent sensitive military material. Meanwhile the standoff between the UK, Sweden and Ecuador continues.
