Demonoid domains up for sale

Minggu, 12 Agustus 2012

The domains of Ukrainian-based file-sharing site Demonoid have gone up for sale, just over a week after authorities pulled down the website.
Early in August, Demonoid was hit with a massive Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack that took the site offline. Shortly after, the website's internet service provider, ColoCall, was approached by authorities and asked to shut down the sites servers, which the company complied with.

ZDNet's sister site CNET today reported that three key domains for the site — Demonoid.me, Demonoid.com and Demonoid.ph — are now all up for sale on domain marketplace Sedo.

Since the closure, hacktivist collective Anonymous has begun targeting Ukrainian Government websites with DDoS attacks, calling for Demonoid to be reactivated.

The news comes as Google announced plans to begin demoting websites that have had legitimate copyright claims filed against them from the internet giant's search results.
