AT&T’s DNS Servers Hit by DDOS Attack on Wednesday

Sabtu, 18 Agustus 2012

On Wednesday,AT&T suffered a distributed denial of service(DDOS) attack on its DNS (Domain Name System) servers resulting in service disruptions for a number of its enterprise customers.

The attacks targeted the organization’s DNS servers in two locations, but they were able to get everything back on track after the network and security teams intervened, SecurityWeek reports.

According to the firm’s statement, business customers experienced difficulties during the attacks, but now everything should be running smoothly.

As Steve Ragan highlights, the curious fact about this incident is that AT&T has its own DDOS mitigation services that are advertised as being able to stop an attack before it reaches the victim’s network to ensure that there are no service disruptions.

They might have utilized their own systems to mitigate the attack, but it seems that they haven’t as effective as they should have been.
